Inspirational Quote

"If we don't stand up for children, then we don't stand for much."

Marian Wright Edelman
We have been learning so much about the growth and development of children, and also about how it can be interrupted, changed, slowed, or otherwise affected by negative influences. This quote, in my mind, reminds us that it is we who have this knowledge, who need to ensure that childern in our world are given the care and education they need to thrive. It is we who need to advocate for all children, everywhere.
This has been a great class and I have enjoyed reading everyone's opinions and thoughts. Best of luck in your next experience at Walden!

  1. “We don’t stand for much”....What a powerful quote. Today’s adults were yesterday’s children and its today’s children who will become the next leaders, educators, doctors, and parents. It is vital that we advocate for young children, promote developmentally appropriate practice, and share the importance of social emotional development and competence.

  2. I love Marian Wright Edelman's quotes, she really has a way of getting the point across. I've seen several people get credit for this quote, that really has the same message, "The test of the morality of a society is what it does for its children."
